O guia supremo do Irão, o ayatollah Khamenei, utilizou o Twitter para fazer um apelo aos jovens ocidentais, duas semanas depois do ataque contra o jornal satírico Charlie Hebdo, em Paris. E o apelo é este: mantenham a mente aberta no que diz respeito ao Islão e afastem-se do Estado Islâmico e do Boko Haram.
O ayatollah Khamenei escolheu o Twitter e escreveu em inglês para poder “falar diretamente” com a juventude da Europa e da América do Norte por considerar que o sentimento de “busca pela verdade” é mais forte no coração dos jovens do que no dos políticos e dos estadistas que “não separam a política da verdade e da retidão”.
O objetivo destes tweets, segundo o ayatollah, é levar os jovens a familiarizarem-se com o Islão, consultando diretamente o Corão e não se deixando levar pelos “preconceitos” que o guia supremo iraniano diz serem alimentados pelo Ocidente, ou pelas visões do Islão construídas pelo Estado Islâmico ou pelo Boko Haram, que apelida de “arrogantes”. Com este apelo, o ayatollah não tenciona que os jovens aceitem a sua leitura ou qualquer outra leitura do Islão, diz, mas apenas que não aceitem visões tingidas pelo medo relativamente ao “outro”, continua.
E termina a carta desta forma: “Talvez com o vosso sentido de responsabilidade, a futura geração possa escrever a história da interação entre o Islão e o Ocidente com menos ressentimento”.
